Not an English-Style B&B
The Anchor Light is not an English-style B&B - Guest Rooms have private entrances and en-suite bathrooms. And breakfast is in-room and self-catered.
Our guests describe The Anchor Light as a "high-end boutique hotel plus breakfast ... and an outstanding location at Corlette Beach".
While the prestigious travel magazine "Weekends for Two" describes The Anchor Light as: "...the personal touch of a Bed & Breakfast and the quality
and attention to detail of a modern, Five STAR hotel."

Independently Rated 4½ STAR
The Anchor Light has been assessed annually by NRMA / AAA Tourism - the leading independent authority on accommodation quality - since opening in 2005
and has always achieved a rating of 4½ STAR out of a maximum possible score of 5.
Please note that AAA Tourism assess only the building and guest appointments of a property and not the location. This is why two properties can have
the same STAR rating when one is in a much better location.
Port Stephens is a gorgeous part of the New South Wales coast and you will probably want to be close to the waterfront. So be sure to check a map or
you may spend your holiday looking at a strip mall and driving to the waterfront.

Quality not Quantity
Very few hotels can claim the quality or attention to detail that you will find at The Anchor Light.
From Fujitsu air conditioners to Samsung televisions; Sealy Posturepedic mattresses to Sheridan bed linens and bath towels — our focus is on
quality not quantity.
And because we don't take back-to-back bookings we are able to clean and maintain our Guest Rooms to a very high standard.

No Children or Babies
Guests at The Anchor Light tend to be older couples enjoying a quiet break and we do not take children or babies at this property.
For guests with children and babies, we have a 4-bedroom holiday house for rent that is adjacent to The Anchor Light. "The Beach House" is
specifically set up for families and includes a Rumpus Room and a big, grassy backyard that is fully fenced and gated with childproof locks.
We have a number of guests that rent both The Beach House and Guest Rooms at The Anchor Light for their summer holiday every year. The older guests
like their quiet time and stay at The Anchor Light while the more boisterous family members, e.g., grandchildren, stay at The Beach House.

Located at Corlette Beach
Corlette Beach is the best sandy beach in Port Stephens. And it is far enough away from Nelson Bay — the epicentre of tourism and holiday
apartments at Port Stephens — to relax and unwind.
Corlette Point Road is a quiet No-Through road that runs for 200 metres behind the beach down to Corlette Headland Reserve and Peppers Anchorage
Resort & Marina. It is generally considered to be the most desirable address in Port Stephens.
It takes about 1-minute to walk from The Anchor Light to Corlette Beach, 3-minutes to Peppers and about 35-minutes to walk along The Waterfront Path
to Nelson Bay.
Corlette Beach is a 30-minute drive from Newcastle Airport and a 2½-hour drive north of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Not a Block of Flats
High-rise holiday apartments and resort complexes (what our parents call a "block of flats") are not everybody's cup of tea. We get at least
one enquiry a month from an unhappy guest of a holiday apartment or resort complex looking for alternative accommodation and prepared to pay the
Cancellation Fee to get out.
We hear some interesting stories: "...too far from a decent beach; ...kids in the pool kept us awake all night." All I can say is: Check the address
on a map (Google Maps | Satellite View is good) and we don't take children or babies at The Anchor Light.
Please note that there are no high-rise holiday apartments or resort complexes in Corlette.

Close to Peppers Anchorage Resort & Marina
Merretts Restaurant at Peppers is one of the few restaurants that we recommend for fine dining in The Bay and it is only a 3-minute walk from The
Anchor Light.
And our guests rave about the lunches - $33.50 for an entrée, main and a glass of wine. It doesn't get much better than lunch under the umbrella at
Peppers on a beautiful sunny day.
Many of our guests also visit The Day Spa at Peppers while The Marina Coffee Shop is popular for a coffee and to book sightseeing tours and cruises.
And the view over Port Stephens and Corlette Beach from the Captain's Bar is sensational.

Not Absolute Waterfront
The Anchor Light is not located on the waterfront and there is a row of waterfront houses and public access paths between us and
Corlette Beach. It takes about 1-minute to walk from The Anchor Light to the beach.

Does Not Have a Pool
The Anchor Light is a 1-minute walk from a gorgeous, north-facing sandy beach and does not have a pool.

Guest Rooms Serviced Daily
Guest Rooms at The Anchor Light are serviced daily with fresh towels supplied every second day. Breakfast supplies, e.g., cereals, are replaced
as-needed when rooms are serviced.
We try very hard not to disturb our guests and Guest Rooms are typically serviced after lunch. However, we try to work around our guests' schedule
and do not have a fixed time for room service.

Very Clean and Well-Maintained
Our focus at The Anchor Light is on quality not quantity and guests often tell us that they have never stayed at a property that is cleaner or
better maintained.
Unless Peppers twist our arm to take guests when they are booked we always leave a good number of days between guests. This allows us to clean and
maintain our Guest Rooms to a very high standard.
